A modern New England waterfront beach house. Exterior stripped down vernacular. Primary living on 2nd floor to capture expansive water views. The open plan style living with the generously sized windows allowed the views from both the waterfront and the tiered landscape rear yard become an integral part of the interior experience.
The outdoor pergola with intentionally heavy proportions and rafters with simplified tails extend the clean aesthetic to the outdoors.
As with the exterior, the interior components were studied. The casings and base were custom detailed. The stair was designed with subtle details echoing the house DNA and intentionally no gooseneck handrails. Door details, window panels, library wall paneling, shelving, the fireplace mantels all followed same aesthetic of the simple, clean lined modern but with ties to the traditional.
